Ecodamia offers spray-free, regeneratively farmed macadamias, direct from the orchard at Greens Creek, near Gympie, Queensland. Operating on sustainable practices, Ecodamia focuses on producing high-quality macadamia nuts while nurturing the local ecosystem. The farm's commitment to regenerative agriculture not only ensures a bountiful harvest but also promotes soil health and biodiversity. All nuts are carefully processed and packaged on-site, guaranteeing freshness and quality from the farm straight to the consumer. Ecodamia's dedication to sustainable farming practices sets it as a beacon of environmentally conscious macadamia production in Australia.
Macadamia nuts are Australia’s most successful commercialised native food. Australian grown nuts are exported across the world and macadamia orchards have been established on all subtropical continents. The same species of tree that produce nuts worldwide can still be found growing wild in south-east Queensland and north-east New South Wales. The nuts are nutritious and delicious. Australians should eat more of them!
At Ecodamia, we stand for macadamia production in harmony with nature. Central to this ethos is a strong focus on soil health, which is achieved through practices including:
maintaining abundant and diverse ground cover throughout the orchard
minimising tillage and other forms of soil disturbance
utilising mowing instead of herbicide application to manage ground-cover
using only organic fertilisers and mulches to supplement crop nutrition
These practices allow life in the soil to flourish. But at Ecodamia, life is fostered above the ground as well. The orchard provides habitat to Australian native wildlife of all types – marsupials, bats, birds, frogs, reptiles and insects to name a few. In fact, beyond just living in the orchard, many of these species are relied upon to assist with production of the macadamias, undertaking roles such as pollination and predation of “pest” species. The benefits of having wildlife in the orchard are too great to risk harming them by applying synthetic, or even naturally derived, pesticides.
The other beneficiary of spray-free macadamias is you, the consumer. You can now enjoy these delicious nuts the way nature intended. In doing so you will experience a range of nutritional benefits including monounsaturated fats, dietary fibre, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Ecodamia nuts are cracked, sorted, flavoured and dried in our purpose built, on-farm processing facility. They are then kept refrigerated to ensure maximum freshness, before being offered for sale at local farmers markets and Australia-wide, via online order. The short time between processing and sale means that Ecodamia nuts always taste crunchy and fresh.
